B-schools placement salaries surge by 30 percent

Mumbai: While the entire globe deems in economic uncertainties and controversies, the business schools in India witness 30 percent increase in the placement salaries. The increase does not account the offers from international firms, which shell out more than the domestic firms.
As reported by Business Standard, compared to the 2007 increase which, stood at 10 percent, this increase is definitely noticeable with the B-schools marching forward amidst the inflationary setbacks. The other reason for the salary spike, according to Sameer K Barua, Director, IIM Ahmedabad, is that industry's demand for high-quality managers continues to exceed supply.
The Super League comprising of nine most revered institutes, has netted an increase of the average salary from
10.1 lakh to
13.29 lakh. Observing the increase, Barua, said, "Even in March this year, recruiters had not come to appreciate the far-reaching impact of the crisis."
All India Management Association's Best B-school Survey 2008, in association with Business Standard, also threw light on the performance, level of teaching and infrastructure of these education centers. After surveying 258 institutes from 23 states and 108 cities, it enlightened on the facts that a tremendous effort was seen on the parts of the faculties compared to any other time and even the PhDs rose by 12 percent. Moreover, even the professors penned in management journals to a greater extent than the usual rate.
The efforts of the faculties are supposed to be triggered by the increasing number of students with work experience since as many as 52 percent of the graduates being experienced. This
