BlackBerry Torch to be sold in U.S. on August 12
New York: In order to raise its consumer appeal and counter competition from Apple's iphone, Research In Motion (RIM) has introduced a new BlackBerry smartphone. Priced at $199.99 with a two-year contract with AT&T, the BlackBerry Torch to be sold in the U.S. on August 12. The new BlackBerry, with a touchscreen and slideout keyboard, runs on a new operating system and is equipped with a faster and easier-to-use Web browser, according to RIM. From analysts' point of view, with consumer-friendly features, the new BlackBerry will give tough competition to iPhone and the smartphones like Motorola's Droid that use Google's Android operating system. Although there are some new touches and integration in the operating system, the new model doesn't provide any feature, which is more advanced than what others are providing, according to an analyst. But if RIM sticks to its known efficiency and stability, then it's a positive, said the analyst.
