New Delhi: As a silver-lining to the dimmed job market, Reliance-ADAG's DTH arm Big TV is hiring 15,000 installation and technical professionals. "We are establishing a base of 15,000 technical and installation professionals as part of our after-sales service infrastructure. We have decentralized our customer service operations which will span across 500 towns," said Big TV Head Sanjay Bahl.
The firm also cited its plans to launch a digital video recorder technology to tap the television market that would provide features like recording and pausing live content. The decision comes in the wake of the rise in TV viewing hours due to the elections and the Indian Premier League. "We will launch our DVR STB before the festive season this year. We have also tested technology to provide mobile DTH services which can be fixed to a car or vehicle and we hope to launch it soon," said Bahl.
The company expects to maintain a faster growth in terms of subscribers in the next two months. Currently, it has around 1.5 million subscribers and it maintains that the interest for the elections and the IPL will increase DTH sales for the industry by 40-45 percent.
