When Herman Hollerith founded the Tabulating Machine Company-later renamed as International Business Machine by Thomas Watson-in1896, the U.S. economy was stalled in a prolonged recession. When Watson took the charge of the company, he started building on its core punch-card technology and put the company on the fast track by focusing on landing large-scale custom projects with big business clients.
Today, the company has over $107 billion in revenue and offers computer hardware, computer software, IT services, and IT consulting.
