kindle fire e-books vs books
Not only the Authors Guild even the Association of Authors Representatives (AAR) is against the e-book facility for the customers of kindle lending library. They find the kindle lending library following a unparallel method and most of the contracts do not have any rules and conditions how will author get the compensation for the use of their e-books. The publishers, authors and agents pronounced that Amazon is just using the lending library to promote the sales of the kindle tablet and increase the Amazon's prime membership. Another issue rose that Amazon is trying to compete with Apple's iPad. Amazon is actually trying to boost up their kindle revenue by adding the $79 prime membership thing as they have to make a bit of profit at least. In the manufacture and sale of hardware, Amazon had to undergo losses. So the company is very much dependent on their other goods and contents. These memberships will also encourage people to purchase other commodities and contents from Amazon which will roll back all the money back. The AAR released the following statement: "We think free lending of authors' work as an incentive to purchase a device and/or participation in a program is not covered nor was anticipated in most contracts between authors and publishers."
