Aricent to offer solutions for Android platform
New Delhi: Global innovation, technology and services company Aricent has launched its specialized services for the Android platform with a view to help its customers to develop equipments based on the mobile operating system. "We will provide consultancy and services to OEMs, chipset vendors and operators for accelerating the development cycle, improve performance and enhance the overall consumer experience of the Android-based mobile devices and consumer electronics," said Sajal Gupta, Business Development Vice President for Mobile Multimedia and Value Added Services of Aricent. Android is a mobile operating system, which was initially developed by Google and later by the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a consortium of 50 hardware, software, and telecom companies. On the question of performance of Android handsets in the country, Gupta said, "A lot would depend on the pricing and the applications developed. Android as a platform is expected to help handset-makers bring down cost, something that will help them here."
