Apple needs to change its hardware to prevent jailbreaking
Bangalore: There seems to be no solution to prevent jailbreaking devices that run iOS 4.1, which was released by Apple. Apple will not be able to stop jailbreakers without making significant changes in its hardware, reports Dan Goodin of the Register. Jailbreaking will be easier in iOS 4.1 because the exploit targets a low-level part of the operating system. This is quite different from previous jailbreak holes. One of the sites called jailbreakme.com was exploited for weeks and that hack relied on two software bugs in iOS, allowing Apple engineers to stop the jailbreaking with a simple update. Development team members feel that the exploit technique has to be finetuned and hacking would become much easier by the latest update. The members of the development team perceive iOS 4.1 a trap designed to prevent jailbreakings.
