Apple iPad score a hit in Internet trends in 2010

Bangalore: Apple's iPad continues its dominance in the Internet trends this year. After Google and Twitter announced their 2010 Memes, the concepts that caught on via the internet, it was the turn of Facebook to do so. And the most common trends in all the three sites were Apple's iPad and Justin Bieber. The iPad was placed in second position in Google's search trends for 2010, while it came in at fourth position in the Facebook trends. Twitter trends for 2010 placed the iPad as number six. Justin Bieber was also named in all the lists but after iPad. While we have already alerted you with Google and Twitter trends for 2010, here is the latest from Facebook trends for 2010. Facebook has brought out a global list of top status trends based on the frequency in which a phrase recurred in status updates. Topping the charts is the phrase "hit me up" (HMU). The phrase was unheard of till last year but gained prominence this year. The phrase is used by people in their status updates when they were ready to meet friends. The usage of the term grew especially during summer breaks and weekends. HMU was followed by the biggest sporting event of 2010, the soccer World Cup. People cheering for their teams or booing the rivals became a common status message during the games. Movies were the third most discussed about topics in the statuses this year, with the top five movies being Toy Story 3, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Inception, Alice in Wonderland and Iron Man 2. The fourth place was shared by iPad and iPhone 4, which combined for over 25 million posts the year round. Next in the list included the Haiti earthquake and Justin Bieber in fifth and sixth places respectively. Games on Facebook, Mineros/Miners Airplanes and 2011 rounded off the top 10 trends on Facebook for 2010.
