Another attack hits Twitter
Bangalore: Twitter's servers went down again on Tuesday for a brief period, just days after an attack forced the microblogging site to shut down last week. Twitter posted an update to its status blog saying, "Responding to site downtime. We're working to recover from a site outage and will update as we learn more." Co-founder of Twitter Biz Stone had said on Monday that the service was continuing to come under attack. However, "We had better at dealing with them such that Twitter remains active. Our systems are looking good and the platform is healthy," Stone added. Last week, Twitter along with Facebook and LiveJournal were victims of the distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. A pro-Georgian blogger has been identified as the target of the DDoS attacks believed to be an attempt to silence his online criticism of Moscow's role in last year's Georgia-Russia War. Outages used to be common at Twitter when the small start-up's servers were unable to keep up with the massive amount of data flowing through them. They had gradually become less frequent, before these latest round of attacks started.
