AMD inaugurates second R&D facility in Hyderabad

Bangalore: AMD, a global provider processing solutions in the computing, graphics and consumer electronics markets, announced the opening of a second research and design facility in Hyderabad. The new 30,000 square-foot center will accommodate a growing team of R&D employees focusing on next-generation AMD graphics and computing solutions.
Dirk Meyer, President & COO of AMD, inaugurated the newly built center comprising a state-of-the-art office space offering a host of modern amenities to improve the overall work experience. "India's talented pool of engineering resources makes it one of the most important technology centers in the world. The inauguration of our fourth R&D facility in India and second in Hyderabad is recognition of the caliber of talent and design expertise that resides within the country," said Meyer. "The sheer creativity and energy of the teams in India gives me confidence that we have our resources in the right place globally."
The R&D team in Hyderabad plays a leading role on VLSI & embedded system design for consumer electronics. The center includes AMD's Center of Excellence for Audio Technology and has designed multimedia products for leading companies in consumer electronics, including mobile phones, game consoles, LCD panels and TV tuner cards. The center has also made significant contributions to AMD's latest graphics & computing processors. AMD will continue R&D operations in the original Hyderabad facility as well.
