Bangalore: In order to provide a glimpse about the future of Flash platform, Adobe had organized the Flash Platform summit in which various developers and designers from the Adobe community showcased their latest architecture. After releasing Flash Player 10.1, AIR2, Flex 4 SDK and Creative Suite 5, the multimedia platform tried to explore further possibilities to upgrade the relatively new products. In one of the technical sessions by Deepa Subramaniyam, Product Manager for Flex SDK, Adobe Systems, 'Spark' was introduced to delegates from nearly 300 institutions. Spark is the new component and skinning architecture in Flex 4. Deepa demonstrated the entire process of making a spark and also explained about the skinning contract made for Spark based components, the new effects and graphics library added to the Flex 4 framework. Deepa, who has worked on Flex since its inception, explained each and every step and concept for making up 'Spark', leaving the audience amazed with the outcome. After enabling web applications everywhere through AIR2, Adobe has got another feature-AIR 2.5 Beta for Android. Mark Doherty, Platform Evangelist for Mobile and Devices, Adobe, displayed the features of AIR 2.5 and explained its various features like geolocation, gestures, StageWebView, camera and microphone APIs. AIR 2.5 is designed to compete with Apple for developers' multimedia apps and it resembles Apple's 'Face Time' to a great extent. Due to its cross platform abilities, AIR 2.5 will now enable Adobe to focus its attention in the mobile market. The latest version optimized for the Android platform would feature support for access to phone's hardware parts like camera, microphone, GPS and even accelerometer, along with support for multi-touch and GPU hardware and video acceleration. As a whole, the purpose of the summit is best summarized in the words of Ramesh Srinivasaraghavan, Sr. Computer Scientist and Evangelist, Adobe Systems, "We want our delegates to go back home with the skills, insight and contacts to take advantage of opportunities that can transform our industry."
