World's Highest Earning Authors


Janet Evanovich:
Janet Evanovich is the third highest earning author at $33 million. Evanovich began her career writing short contemporary romance novels under the pen name Steffie Hall, but gained prominence authoring a series of contemporary mysteries featuring Stephanie Plum. The 19 novels in this series time and again topped the New York Times and Amazon bestseller lists, most recently with Notorious Nineteen.

John Grisham:
At $26 million John Grisham takes the fourth place on the list. Grisham is an American lawyer, politician, and author, best known for his popular legal thrillers. In 1984 he began writing his first novel ‘A Time to Kill’ and it was published in June 1989. As of 2008, his books had sold over 250 million copies globally. He is one of only three authors to sell two million copies on a first printing, the others being J.K. Rowling and Tom Clancy. He is also the winner of Galaxy British Book Awards.  His first best seller was ‘The Firm’, which was released in 1991 and sold more than seven million copies. Eight of his other novels have also been adapted into films and his books have been translated into 29 languages and published worldwide.
