Wipro net up 46 percent in second quarter

Bangalore: Wipro Ltd posted a net profit of 7 billion ($154 million) for the second quarter (July-Sep) of the current fiscal (2006-07), registering year-on-year (YoY) growth of 46 percent. In a notification to the stock exchanges here Wednesday, the company said its total revenue for the quarter under review (Q2) increased to 35.5 billion, registering YoY growth of 41 percent under the Indian GAAP. Under the US GAAP, the net income rose to $152 million, representing an increase of 48 percent YoY and total revenue to $765 million, an increase of 41 percent.
