Why do People Use Social Media?

Recently, a study was conducted by Nielsen McKinsey Company to find out why people use social media in their daily life. Their findings were based on the self-reported habits of almost 2,000 adults, who used variety of social networking sites. The study revealed some interesting findings that Americans spend more time on Facebook than any other sites.

According to the survey, around 88 to 89 percent of the people were of the opinion that they used these social sites for this purpose. The reason for this may be because these sites helped them to reach their old friends, classmates and relatives. It also helped them to keep in touch with their family, when they are away from them and to find people with the same profession and exchange their ideas.
