Kolkata:Home appliances maker Whirlpool of India is likely to post 20-25 percent revenue growth this fiscal over 18 billion ($391 million) reported last year, a top official said here Tuesday.

"In 2008-09, we expect to achieve a revenue of 25 billion to 28 billion, a growth of about 20-25 percent," Whirlpool vice-president of sales Tamal Kanti Saha told reporters.

The sales growth will mostly be generated from its main products like refrigerators and washing machines, he said.

"This year we are also concentrating on products like air-conditioners, microwave ovens and also on our new launches like water purifiers and built-in home appliances like kitchen chimneys," Saha said.

The company is planning to invest $20 million within the next one-and-a-half year in expanding the capacities of its various product lines, he added.

Whirlpool posted a net profit of 4.46 billion for the first quarter of 2008-2009, 198 percent increase over the same period last year.
