Bangalore: Being a B-school graduate, you may be well equipped with all the required theoretical knowledge and a clear understanding of all the concepts found in the rule book. But once you step out of the campus and step into the real world, the whole package of knowledge you've learnt during the days of your graduation seems to come in contrast with reality. Why? Didn't you learn those lessons in your institution? You would love to answer, "Yes, I did", but the reality says, you didn't. There are certain vital aspects that academia doesn't touch upon. But to do well in your day to day dealings, these aspects can turn out to be really helpful. In our journey down the road of experience, some of them get etched as gospels. 1. How to follow your heart:
Your B-school gives you management education that is imperative for a better understanding of the business environment and the situations you may encounter while shouldering responsibilities in a real environment. However, the essence of running a business successfully lies in the ability to manage the most valuable resource - its people. There can't be any fixed and structured formulas to manage people, and hence no B-school curricula can teach that no matter how rigorous and thought out they are. It can be achieved by a lot of practice, keen observation and understanding of people. Certain circumstances make people react in a manner which can defy all OB (Organisational Behaviour) texts and you might have to forget all the OB lessons and just follow your heart to deal with the situation/people.
