Warning: Cons Targeting People With RBI Phishing Mail

Bangalore: A phishing email in the name of RBI is making rounds online. If you get an email from Reserve Bank of India, then don’t fall for it, reports Economic Times.

An email allegedly from RBI is asking people to secure their accounts by filling up the details. It’s an attempt by new-age fraudster to swindle unsuspecting people their hard earned money, security experts said.

The email says that RBI has launched a new security system and asks users to clink on a link with list of banks. Once it is done a new window will ask users to fill in all the net banking details, including card numbers and the secret three digit CVV number and others. Experts say that using RBI logo and its name is just a trick by cons to swindle money.

One of the users shared his touch with the phishing mail with ET, “The email is so neat and I for once was thrilled that RBI is taking such a big step to ensure security of people. But at the advise of a friend, I checked with the police and learned that I would have lost all my savings to this racket," said K Manoj.

The RBI has also been flooded with queries from citizens across the country. "I get at least four such calls a day," said a senior RBI official.
