Bangalore: CISCO, a networking solution provider has made available new WebEx High Quality Video which turns web conferencing into a video conferencing room since WebEx had declined with the introduction of webinars. In order to make available this facility to mobile users as well, CISCO has launched Cius tablet which only weighs about 1.15 pounds and will sport Cisco's collaboration software that integrates virtual desktop applications with high-definition video.
With the help of Cius that would provide a login id, WebEx as the browser and network, it's extremely simple to do video conferencing with anyone sitting in any part of the world. A mobile phone is sufficient rather than sitting in a tele-presence room. The specific pricing remains unannounced but the company says it will retail for less than $1000. CISCO has based the pricing on the global price standards where custom duties are also considered.
Keeping in mind the need to extend the reach of tele-presence, CISCO has introduced new end-points like Cisco Telepresence EX60 that transforms the workplace by combining work, communications, and collaboration - all on the desktop with just the touch of a finger and the CISCO TelePresence system 500 32-inch that gives individuals the flexibility to join multilocation group meetings, or host intimate, remote one-on-one meetings from the personal office.
One step ahead of tele-presence, Cius, which would be launched in March, is expected to revolutionize the enterprise market with its pervasive strategy. It would participate in virtualized desktop environments with the introduction of newly designed client applications from Citrix, VMWare and Wyse. 30 percent of computing environments have moved towards cloud because of the ease of management and security. Where Cius is an enterprise class security, its marketing sense specifies that customers can buy the entire solution and can look at it from a service point of view. According to Gartner's survey, 67 percent of the investment goes in maintenance of personal computers. Cisco terms Cius its virtualized data centre and aims to virtualize the fixed desktop environment of call centres by putting their application in cloud. . The technology is validated within Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI), which caters to the current state of fragmented solutions so as to enhance traditional desktop virtualization. VXI reduces the total cost of ownership by increasing the number of virtual desktops that can be hosted on each server.
Cisco believes that Cius is rich as an application solution. Video conferencing was never available on 3-G but Cisco has changed the trend. It's mandatory to create awareness about 3G applications as the recent statistics state that only 10 percent of the educated masses are fully aware of what a 3G application actually is. It provides a leverage platform for the mobile industry and is capable of ruling the enterprise market. The question that now arises is that how helpful are Skype and Gmail video chat for enterprise market. They both enable video chat facility with a manageable clarity as well and are extremely cost friendly. But when it comes to an enterprise market, the situation differs wherein an outstanding clarity, security and high definition video for web conferencing is mandatory as every minute detail holds importance.
This product innovation by CISCO has simplified the tasks of all the corporates who are highly dependent on video enabled devices. Phones like Blackberry, iPhone and iPad with a browser are their only requirements. VXI also permits to work from home with extreme security of the data wherein the end user just requires to login and connect to the virtualization environment with the entire data already stored in cloud.
