Hod-HaSharon (Israel): Valens Semiconductor, a provider of semiconductor products for the distribution of uncompressed high definition (HD) multimedia content and inventor of HDBaseT technology has launched its HDBaseT compliant Valens VS100 chipset and development kits. According to Valens, these chipsets enable the convergence of uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, power and control through a single, standard 100m/328ft LAN cable. "The multimedia distribution market is one of the fastest growing markets today. However, despite the enormous demand for converged distribution of multimedia content from multiple sources to multiple receivers over longer distances, no simple solution has been available," said Dror Jerushalmi, CEO of Valens. The Valens VS100 family consists of two chips viz. VS100TX (Transmitter): For DVDs, STBs and other HD source equipment and VS100RX (Receiver): For HDTVs, projectors and other display equipment. This announcement comes a few days after Valens, LG Electronics, Samsung and Sony Pictures announced the cofounding of the HDBaseT Alliance to promote and standardize the HDBaseT technology.
