BANGALORE:Fortune 500 technology services and solutions company, Unisys Corporation and its partners in the country expect to increase its headcount by 2,000 and undertake more than 100 global engagements by the year-end. Lawrence A Weinbach, Chairman of Unisys, said, "Right now, we have about 1000 people with our partners and 150 people with Unisys. By the end of 2005, we expect to have about 2000 people on a 50:50 basis. In the next two to three years, we expect to double that number on a 50:50 basis." The state-of-the-art 1000-seat facility set up in Bangalore two months back had commenced operations, Weinbach said. ''Our Bangalore operation is on track to provide significant strategic value to Unisys clients around the world,'' he added. The facility is one of the largest Unisys has over the world. The company currently works with partners like Caritor, NIIT and Hexaware in India. The company had announced a $180 million investment in India last April. Unisys has a development center in Bangalore. Weinbach said today that the Indian employee base was expected to double again in the next two years to meet client demand. ''Unisys has sourced globally for more than 25 years. Our current expansion in India is an extension of that strategy and is integral to the growth of our global capabilities,'' he said. Unisys India offered its global clients end-to-end IT services, including business process outsourcing, IT outsourcing, technical help desk as well as software development and maintenance.
