Unheard Technological Facts from the London Olympics

Everybody would want to know the team involved behind all these massive setups, the credit goes to ‘Atos’, IT partner for the Olympic Games since 2002. They have been efficient partners of the Olympic Committee and are responsible for coordinating all the IT systems at the Olympic and Paralympic games. There is no doubt that the complete process would take time, this design for the 2012 games was completed back in 2009 and Atos opened an operation centre at Canary Wharf to monitor systems 24/7.

"Our challenge is to create an IT solution that allows the capture and reporting of every moment of the action and supports in bringing it to the world via television and the internet, first time, every time. The whole event is highly visible and the world is watching. And where victory is measured by the smallest margin, there are no second chances" says Patrick Adiba, the man behind the project for Atos.

The Interesting figures are still not over; the entire event will see the best use of technology according to the London 2012 bosses.

While Atos looks after the IT part of it, it is Cisco’s game to ensure that all voice and video, from scoring and timing, are transmitted more safely and securely.

"Cisco is immensely excited that the Games are finally upon us. Over the past few years we have been working closely with organizers and partners to ensure a strong and reliable network infrastructure is in place. London 2012 is set to be the most connected games possible" said Ian Foddering, CTO, Cisco UK and Ireland.
