US IT firm plans center in Chennai

BANGALORE: Zoniac Inc., a US-based global pure-play IT product firm in the PSA (Professional Services Automation) space, confirmed it’s presence in India and plans to set up a center in Chennai. Zoniac India will undertake global product development and provide global product support. It would be actively looking at the Indian market for PSO automation estimated at 1,740 crores as per a recent Nasscom-McKinsey study. Zoniac India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Zoniac Inc., US would be based out of Chennai with sales and support operations across the country. The company plans to expand its sales and support operations in line with the growth projected with an office in Bangalore shortly to be followed by Hyderabad and Delhi. Zoniac India currently employs 30 plus professionals and would grow to 100 professionals shortly. The company would be moving to a dedicated new facility in Chennai by end 2004. It has launched its entire suite of products in India (Zoniac Premium, Zoniac Staffing Management System, Zoniac Vendor Management System, Zoniac BPO & Zoniac Resume Parser) which would enable Indian PSOs (particularly the IT/ITES firms) to increase their productivity and per employee profitability. Addressing a press conference held in the city, Guna Sankar, Chief Executive Officer, Zoniac India and Co-founder & CTO, Zoniac Inc., USA, said, " As India moves to a predominantly services economy and emerges as a preferred destination for outsourcing, there would be an explosion of new companies across sectors besides existing players. While studying the market, we found that there is no global player with a localized solution addressing this huge opportunity and decided to move in quickly. We are here to address the local market and add to the competitiveness of the Indian PSO sector, which is having a dream run and not just to leverage the manpower base alone." Most firms today try to manage these via spreadsheets, email, documents, or custom solutions, which are not integrated. The company’s current customers in India are Career Graph, Ion Idea, Marlabs, Megasoft, Raffles Software, Softsol Resources and Velankani.
