Tulip acquires Data centre for 230 Crore

Bangalore: Tulip Telecom, Enterprise communication service provider announced the acquisition of a Data centre facility in Bangalore owned by SADA IT Park for 230 crore. With approximately 9 lakh square feet of space this is going to be the biggest Data centre in the country and third largest in the world, other two being in U.S. This is Tulip's fifth Data centre and will be operated by Tulip's subsidiary named "Tulip Data Centre". While initial investment in the company is coming from the Tulip Telecom's balance sheet, the company is planning to invest another 670 crore to upgrade the facility in another three years. Sanjay Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Tulip Telecom says, "About 270 crore will be generated from the data centre revenues, and about 400 will come from external funding for which we are in discussion with strategic investors." Tulip is already operating four Data centres in the country, two in Mumbai and one each in Delhi and Bangalore respectively. Jain says that new Data centre has the potential of earning revenue over 1000 crore when it reaches its peak capacity after three years.
