Ahmedabad: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced its Toyota Technical Education Programme (T-TEP) at Ahmedabad in collaboration with the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kuberanagar.

The company plans to partner 20 technical institutes across the country by 2010 and would be investing approximately Rs 6 crore for T-TEP implementation in the country. The company has already established nine such partnerships with other industrial institutes across the country. Around 38 students at the ITI will undergo the programme in two batches this year. Nearly 2,000 students are expected to be covered under the programme.

"We believe the partnership with technical institutes will enhance the technical prowess of the students and on a macro level will benefit the Indian auto industry," said A Toyoshima, MD, TKM. So far 66 technicians of the 74 who underwent the T-TEP training at these institutes have been employed by the Toyota dealership.
