Increased Strategic Dialogues & High Level Visits
The year 2010 saw an increased level of strategic dialogues between both the countries on various matters. Pre- and Post-Obama visit, there had been high level bilateral dialogues attended by the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and India's Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna along with many other high level officials. India's Defense Minister A K Antony also had visited the U.S. in September 2010 with a high-power team to hold wide-range of bilateral talks including regional security, strengthening military-to-military ties, and purchase of U.S. defence equipments. India-U.S. Counter Terrorism Initiative
Joining hands together to fight terrorism, India and the U.S. had signed the India-U.S. Counter Terrorism Initiative in Jul 2010 which was signed by Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai and the U.S. Ambassador Timothy J Roemer. It aims to enhance the cooperation between the two countries in counter terrorism and to keep this as an important factor in their bilateral strategic partnership. By this, India and U.S. will jointly develop effect methods to combat terrorism, will exchange modern techniques, will share information, investigative skills and will enable better cooperation between forensic science laboratories.
