Top 15 Cars Sold In India

#2 Maruti WagonR

The second name from the Maruti family, Maruti WagonR is placed at the second position in the list with 10.078 units sales in the month of August 2012.

Launched in December 1999 in India, the Maruti WagonR quickly got adapted to the Indian automotive market, especially to the typical Indian middle class family that wanted a ‘practical’ hatchback. The car with 1.1 litre engine got updated in 2003 and 2006, with minor improvements, which kept the sales figures up.

Facing the competition, Maruti came up with heavily updated and refreshed version of WagonR in April 2010, making it a bigger vehicle sported with more efficient engine. Later, Maruti offered the vehicle with a company fitted CNG option, in addition to the petrol engine, to further increase its appeal, especially targeting the taxi drivers. The car continues to sell healthy numbers of units every month. The mileage of the car ranges from 13.1 to 26.2 kmpl.

#3 Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra’s Bolero sits at the third position on the list compiled by Yahoo, with monthly sales of 8717 units. It has climbed up two positions from the sales of previous month to that of August 2012. The highlights of this model are its great looks and design and also its better mileage. But the hatchback is criticized for lacking the comfort, especially in the last seat, due to less interior space.
