Chicago: The Indian American Medical Association of Illinois (IAMA) has celebrated its 30th anniversary on November 20, 2010 at the Doubletree Hotel in Oak Brook, Illinois. On the occasion, President of IAMA Dr. Ashok Fulambarker highlighted IAMA's achievements over the past year. Over the past year, IAMA's membership has increased by over 150 including medical students, residents and young physicians during his leadership. In a bid to improve working conditions for doctors in Illinois, said Fulambarker, IAMA must work together with AAPI on key policy initiatives like bigger medical school classes to meet future demand. On protecting physician reimbursement, he said it needs a permanent solution not repeated temporary quick fixes. Sam Pitroda, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India was the Chief Guest and keynote speaker on the occasion. Pitroda spoke about the growth of telecommunications in India since the 1960s. Dr. Ajeet Singhvi, President of AAPI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin), addressed the glittering event. He in his speech detailed the AAPI initiatives in community service, including sending medical missions abroad.
