U.KÂ’s supermarket giant, Tesco announced on Monday that it was moving 350 IT jobs to a dedicated business support center in India.

BANGALORE: The new high-tech center, focused on providing IT and business support processes, will be located in Bangalore, where Tesco already has non-IT related staff (non-food sourcing team) based. It will be operational by the middle of next year. Tesco's outsourcing move comes as union chiefs call on the U.K. government to set up a commission to analyze the impact of moving work offshore. The company said in a statement: "The best possible support will be put in place to help any member of staff who is affected, and consultations with the unions have already begun. Those who want to stay and are willing to change their role and location will be able to do so."
