New Delhi: Teleperformance India, a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Teleperformance Group Inc., a leading global contact centre, said it is planning major expansion in India.

"The increased penetration of telecom, financial services and consumer products as also growing competition have resulted in the need for stronger customer services to retain customers," Sanjay Mehta, managing director, Teleperformance, said in a statement Saturday.

"We plan to address this fast growing market by leveraging the global core expertise in customer service of Teleperformance," Mehta added.

To meet the needs of the domestic market, the company has set up its second BPO unit in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, employing more than 500 people. It is also planning to increase the headcount significantly.

The $1.8 billion firm, which has 292 such contact centers in 44 countries, entered the Indian market in 1996 with the opening of its first BPO unit in Gurgaon.
