Ahmedabad: The introduction of 3G services in the country will boost up the Value Added Services (VAS) of the telecom sector. By 2015 it is expected to touch 200 billion from the current 650 million, said an Airtel official. The growth would be led by introduction of new services and internet based application. "AS revenues contributed 10 percent of total revenue for operators and this is expected to touch 20 percent in near future, which shall be led by introduction of new services and growth in data download through mobiles," said Shivan Bhargava, Airtel Gujarat Circle Chief. The company unveiled a host of VAS including 'Apps Central' which can convert any feature phone in to a smartphone through a simple download and thereafter subscriber can simply 'click to buy' directly from their mobile. Another service 'Wall Street Journal' will help the customers to get personalized business content on sections like markets, portfolio, investing and lifestyle.
