NEW DELHI: The Delhi-based TCIL BellSouth has bagged a multimillion-dollar turnkey software project in telecom billing and customer care for TelOne, Zimbabwe’s erstwhile Posts and Telecom Corporation. The project encompasses supply, installation, testing and commissioning of subscriber line management system (SLMS) application software in the first phase followed by the second phase of billing and mediation system implementation duly integrated with SLMS. “We wanted to talk about it only once the final acceptance tests had been carried out by TelOne successfully and the system handed over to the customer which happened very recently,” said TCIL BellSouth chief executive officer Sudhir Saxena. The company is a software development joint venture company between Telecom Consultants India and TBL India, an affiliate of BellSouth International (BSI) Asia-Pacific. TBL had offered TelOne the solution based on its flexible operations support system which has now been re-engineered to convergent universal billing and customer care system (CUBICS), according to Saxena. It is an end-to-end integrated solution developed by TBL for test and fault management, cable record system, interface with switch/CMOC, billing system and directory assistance system. TBL is also executing two other similar projects in Africa, one of which is at the final stage. (Source: ET)
