Bangalore: To offset the appreacition of rupee, many IT companies are discussing on asking the employees to work more hours and may be even on Saturdays, reported The Times of India.

To counter the negative impact of appreciating rupee on the company's top and bottom lines, Wipro is discussing the option of getting onsite employees. According to the sources, there is a move among the BPO and IT companies to get their onsite and offshore employee to work for 50 hours a week, instead of 40 now.

Avinash Vashitha, MD, Thaloons, an offshore and onsite advisory firm said that IT and BPO firms are in negotiation with their clients to attract them into an hour-based billing system, wherein software service providers should realize better daily per capita revenues from their onshore and offshore employees.

The rupee appreciation has been so sharp, it has hit every software exporter. According to Infosys chief mentor NR Narayana, the currency changes were beyond any company's control, and the IT industry must look ways to improve productivity.
