Techies Watch Out:Hot and Happening Technologies

4. Cloud Computing

What is it? Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service, in such a way that shared resources (typically storage resources), software (such as applications), and information (related to computation or data access) are provided to computers that are connected to the Internet. Since this approach provides computing as a service and not as a product, cloud users don’t need to know the location and other such details of the computing infrastructure.

How hot is it? Very Hot. This area of computing and software is so hot that it could actually make a number of technological concepts such as present methods of data storage obsolete.  This in turn, brings us to the next topic-

Why is it important? Well since the face of data storage is becoming cloudy, data center workers are more in demand, but they also need new skills. Expertise in the field of cloud computing is essential for any enterprise, and for this data center experts are required.

How much does it pay? $130,000 per annum in Silicon Valley, and around $86,000 per annum in other parts of the US. Data analysts are expected to experience salary hikes between 5 percent and 6 percent this year, according to a study by Bluewolf, a cloud solution provider.

Pranab Dash (Systems Engineer, VMware), Suriya Mohan (Senior Technical Architect, Aricent Technologies), and Mahesh Gidwani (Sr. Technical Architect, Dell) are few of the tech gurus who feature on the cloud space at the India Software Developer Conference that will be held from March 24 through 25 in Bangalore. Come and get your clouds of doubt cleared at the conference!
