Microsoft’s Windows 8 is embedded with many confusing elements like the metro and desktop applications that are not user friendly, creating confusion for the developers and users. The Home screen often looks distorted as there is no option to turn the home screen tiles to icons. The absence of alt-tab feature also makes the navigation difficult between applications. Apart from this, the metro multi tasking application in Windows 8 works well only for tablets and not in desktops. All these drawbacks miserably lead to the failure of Windows 8.The changes have affected users in such a way that the company was compelled to restore some of its features like exact positioning of the start buttons.

#8 Surface tablets

In contrast to Apple that sold about 42 million iPads, Microsoft’s Surface tablets managed to sell less than a million units. Microsoft’s tablets are often criticized for its big size and weight. They offer short battery life coupled with feeble applications. “It has been crippled by the manufacturer, and that’s often the case with a failed product,” says Silicon Valley technology analyst Rob Enderle.
