Tata to launch Daewoo trucks

KOLKATA: Tata Motors Limited, which had acquired the commercial vehicles division of Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company Limited, would launch trucks manufactured by the South Korean company in the Indian market during the current financial year. Speaking at a news conference here on Monday, head (Sales and Marketing) of Commercial Vehicles (CV) division of Tata Motors Prem Kr Verma said that the details were being worked out whether to launch the trucks in CKD, SKD or CBU form. If they were to be in the CKD or SKD form, then they would be assembled in any of the manufacturing facilities of Tata Motors in Jamshedpur, Pune or Lucknow. With a current market share of 58 per cent in the CV segment, the company was looking to beat the industry growth of 15 per cent in the current fiscal. Regarding light commercial vehicles sales, he said that Tata Motors sold 45,000 units last year and was planning to increase the market share from 75 per cent to 85 per cent in the current financial year. Contribution of LCV sales to overall revenue of the company was 24 per cent.
