Tablets to Wipeout Laptops, Says America

Bangalore: The Desktop market had experienced deterioration from the time of introduction of laptops. Now the laptop is experiencing the same threat from tablets. Adding to it, a recent survey by Poll position says that laptops are going to get replaced by tablets in future,at least in the US,.

46 percent of the respondents among 1,155 registered voters were of opinion that laptop will eventually experience the tragedy that happened with pagers and typewriters. 35 percent stood firm with the laptops while 19 percent doesn’t had any opinion.

 The tablets may be a craze among youngsters, but 49 percent of people in the age group 18-29 don’t think tablets will replace laptops while 36.5 percent think so. More than 50 percent of people in the 30-60 age group said yes. Men (53 %) more than women (36 %) foresee tablets overtaking laptops.

The tablet market experienced a big growth in 2011 and is expected to continue the trend in coming years.

With technologies offering more storage space in the cloud, the need for greater storage devices will become less, but with the innovation of fast and sleek version of laptops like Ultrabooks, the category is expected to resist the invasion of tablets, at least for some time.
