TCS opens Chennai center for BPO

CHENNAI: The IT consultancy service provider from the Tata group, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has inaugurated its center in Chennai for providing infrastructure management and business process outsourcing services. The company has investment about $10.22 million at the center which will accommodate 2,500 people. TCS said about 300 people from other centers will move to its new center in the first phase. The company’s Executive Vice-President, N Chandrashekharan said, “In addition to core IT services, we have five areas that are growing: consulting, BPO, engineering and industrial services, asset-based solutions and remote infrastructure management. Each of these has revenues between $50 million and $200 million annually.” TCS, is expecting that infrastructure management to cross $200 million during this financial year. Commenting on components of infrastructure management could be off-shored, Chandrashekharan said, “We would like the offshore component to be about 80 or 90 percent. But currently, it is in line with other IT services- around 60 or 70 percent.”
