NEW YORK: Infosys Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are together expected to hire more than 55,000 workers and college graduates over the next year from across the world, The Globe said. Infosys would spend $100 million to hire and train 25,000 workers and TATA’s planned to add 30,500 employees including 1,000 from the U.S. The report said that both organizations increasingly undertook global recruitment effort as they expanded data entry and back office processes into areas such as design, research and development and sophisticated applications requiring highly skilled workers. For years, U.S. companies have imported talent from the two Indian firms, saying there were not enough technology workers here. Currently, the Globe estimated that more than 10,000 American expatriates worked in India for Indian information technology consulting and other outsourcing firms, a number expected to grow, said John McCarthy, Vice President of Asia Pacific research at Forrester Research in Cambridge. Meanwhile, American firms seeking to reduce labor costs were stepping up off shoring efforts and would be sending more white-collar jobs abroad. Analysts from another research firm, Gartner Inc, based in Connecticut, were quoted, as saying that outsourcing of IT jobs from the United States, Europe, and other major regions to developing countries will increase to 30 percent in 2015. The report said, this summer, Infosys would train 300 graduates IT recruited from American colleges. The new employees will receive starting salaries of $55,000 after completing a six-month course at the firm's training facility in Mysore.
