Syntel to invest $50 Million in Chennai development center

Chennai: As the global outsourcing market is going a through period of rapid expansion, U.S. based IT services and KPO firm Syntel will set up its IT Special Economic Zone in Chennai to represent the next generation of global development facilities. The company will invest $50 million for the campus, which is being constructed in multiple phases.
Located on a 29-acre plot in a SEZ in the SIPCOT IT Park at Siruseri, the centre, when fully ready in two years, will be able to accommodate over 10,000 professionals. The centre was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister, M K Stalin.
"For the past several years, we have made aggressive investments in our people and infrastructure, and our new Chennai campus will ensure Syntel can meet clients' demand," said Prashant Ranade, President&CEO, Syntel.
The first phase of the campus consists of three software development blocks, a 900 seat dedicated training block, dining court and a welcome centre. In total, the first phase of the facility covers 6.5 lakh sq ft with capacity for over 5000 employees. The first building with 1750 seats is operational and 3200 more seats will be added in the near future.
In Chennai, Syntel has its centres at Adyar, IT corridor and Nandambakkam. With the State owned Elcot having in principle allotted 25 acres each at Madurai and Tirunelveli SEZs, Syntel plans to further expand its presence in the State. It is also expanding at its SEZ campus in Pune with plans to add 4200 seats as well as a 1200 seat training block besides other facilities.
