Sony Ericsson unveils Xperia Play


Bangalore: Sony Ericsson has unveiled its mid-level smartphone, Xperia Play at the Mobile World Congress(MWC) 2011 in Barcelona. The phone that is also dubbed as the PlayStation phone or Zeus Z1 has a more of tech-savy image when compared to Sony Ericsson's other media and music-oriented phones. The users can access the PlayStation through the playstation suite present on this phone. The Xperia Play runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)OS. Much of the phone's specs that we reported earlier remain the same like a 4 inch display screen with 854 X 480 resolution. It has a slide out a la PSP with controls including optical analog 'sticks' and two shoulder buttons. The Xperia Play has a 5MP camera and is powered by Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Other features include Adreno 205 GPU,TimeScape UI, VGA camera in front,Wi-Fi, bluetooth and 3.5mm audio jack. It has an internal memory of 400 MB. Xperia Play will come in two colours, black and white. It is likely to hit the markets by March, 2011. The price of the same is yet to announced. However, there are speculations on price being close to 30,000.
