Sony Ericsson launches its Android based smartphone: 'W8'


Bangalore: Sony Ericsson mysteriously unveiled its next Android-powered phone through a web post, the 'Android W8 Walkman phone'. The Smartphone bears a great deal of resemblance with the Xperia X8 . The Smartphone features a 3-inch touch screen, a 3.2-megapixel camera, and a 600MHz processor. By the looks of it, the W8 is identical to the XPERIA X8, but with a bit of fancy jetang colours and a 'WALKMAN' logo. The Sony Ericsson W8 sports a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The W8 also is enabled with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, USB data, Email, IM and Social networking. The Smartphone is powered by a 1200 mAh standard battery and weighs 104 grams. Under the hood there's a 600MHz single-core processor ticking, with 168MB of RAM. The W8 Walkman phone will be offered in Asia-Pacific markets in three color options: Azure Blue, Metallic Red, and Iconic Orange. The W8 Walkman Phone has the four shortcuts on the screen corners which users can personalize. It also has the Virtual QWERTY keyboard and comes with a Scratch Resistant Surface. Being a Walkman, the phone will come with Sony Ericsson's stereo headset, the MH410. The Sony Ericsson W8 will be available in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam starting from Q2 2011 .Pricing is yet unknown, though.
