Bangalore: Sonata Software has registered a net profit of Rs 17.81 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2008, up 27 percent as against Rs 14 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. The earning per share (EPS) rose to Rs 6.78 as compared to Rs 5.33 in the same quarter of last year. The company registered 14 percent increase in revenues, which stood at Rs 405.62 crore against Rs 354.63 crore in Q1 FY08. Commenting on the results, B Ramaswamy, president and managing director, said, "Growth in this quarter is accompanied by significant improvements in key parameters like operating margins, return on capital employed and return on net worth. The balance sheet has been further strengthened by the prepayment of loan, which offers tremendous leverage for inorganic growth."
