AUSTIN: Silicon Laboratories Inc. (Nasdaq:SLAB), announced Tuesday that Russ Brennan, chief financial officer, has been diagnosed with carcinoid tumors and will be taking a short-term leave of absence. Brennan's doctors have informed him that his condition is treatable. Effective today, John McGovern, Brennan's predecessor as Silicon Laboratories' chief financial officer, will assume the duties of CFO on an interim basis. Brennan will resume his duties as chief financial officer upon the successful completion of his treatment. John McGovern served as chief financial officer of Silicon Laboratories from December 1996 until his retirement from that role in September 2002. McGovern remains familiar with the operations of the company, which he guided through early capital formation, a successful IPO and two years of public reporting.
