MUMBAI: The sensex today crossed the magical figure of the 9000 mark and touched a life-time peak of 9000.32 points at mid-session at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on frantic buying spree by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and support by local operators as well as retail investors. The BSE 30-share sensitive index opened at a new high of 8905.68 and thereafter rallied further to life-time peak of 9000.32 by 2:10 pm, registering a steep rally of 111.29 over the previous close of 8889.03. FIIs continued to remain the major buyers on hopes that the India’s economic condition and the corporate fundamentals would continue to be strong, dealers said and added FIIs had made a net purchase in equities worth $104 million Thursday.
