Foursquare

Playground game mania

Dennis Crowley first attempt at a social networking site was when he developed Dodgeball in 2005. It was acquired and killed by Google due to some reason. Dennis did not stop and he found another location based site and named it Foursquare.

His choice of names can make us wonder if he had any unresolved issues with those playground games or if he ever had an ambition to become a sport star. No! He didn’t, it was because the product was completely designed to be fun and playful.

Apparently, Dennis wanted this name earlier for Dodgeball but the domain name wasn’t available then.
