Satyam to open School of leadership

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services Ltd has charted out plans to institutionalize training of leaders and expects to cover about 1,500 (about five percent) of the company's 25,000 employees initially through what it calls Satyam School of Leadership. In order to move forward in this direction, Satyam has inducted Ed S Cohen, who is credited to have launched Booz Allen's Center for Performance Excellence. Announcing this company’s Chairman, B Ramalinga Raju said, “Satyam has set for itself the task of growing leaders faster than the competition as its primary objective. To remain competitive, we need to strengthen and spread this vision internally. Initially it would cover about five percent of the company associates and expand to 10 percent within the next few years.” The company describes this as a Corporate University and seeks to build on what they refer to as the Full Life Cycle Leadership model wherein entrepreneurial leadership opportunities have been provided in defined areas of strategic relationships with customers and alliances, service offerings, projects and processes. Commenting on the project, Raju said, “Satyam has become a $1-billion IT and business solutions provider. As we go on to achieve new levels in the range of service offerings and compete globally, it is no longer an issue of winning bid deals, but also being one step ahead of others in this rapidly changing technology environment.” By the middle of the next year the company is planning to build a campus at Madhapur near Hitec City to host this new center. The Satyam Learning Center, created a few years ago, has played a big role in development of leaders within the company. This effort would take it to the next level, explained Raju.
