Satyam signs internship deal with Melbourne University

MUMBAI: Satyam Computer Services has signed an MoU with Melbourne University (MU) to enable 10 MU students to pursue software development internship with the company each year, according to Virender Aggarwal, director and senior vice-president.
"Moreover, Satyam will recruit as many as 20 software engineers from the university every year," he added.
The participants will undergo a three-month training course in India and China, Raju said. Upon completion of the course, the company will place them on projects in Australia or one of its 55 global locations.
The alliance also enables both the parties to carry out joint research projects in the field of futuristic IT solutions like grid computing. As part of the pact, company executives will deliver lectures on company's core competencies to MU students.
Reacting to this, Breach-Maksvytis called the alliance a major achievement for the university. "We are pleased and excited to have this formal collaboration with Satyam. Our students will have the opportunity for internship with Satyam which will expose them to real-world issues in a commercial environment. It will clearly benefit both the organisations," she said.
Last year, the company had embarked upon a similar initiative with Victoria University. Students were imparted intensive software training on latest technology and were assigned onsite and offshore projects, most of which involved data warehousing.
