Satyam, Microsoft to create world-class IT outsourcing

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Systems and Microsoft (Malaysia) have signed a memorandum of understanding that will see the two companies working together to create world-class IT outsourcing capability to address the needs of large corporations and government agencies in the Asia-Pacific region.

The collaboration envisages Satyam working with Microsoft Malaysia in key industry verticals, such as government, banking and financial services, insurance, manufacturing, retail and distribution, and logistics. This is likely to lead to the creation of over 200 Microsoft Certified developers in the next 24 months for over 200 Microsoft Certified developers in the next 24 months for the Satyam Global Solutions Center.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Microsoft Malaysia Managing Director, Butt Wai Choon, said that Microsoft is committed to building a thriving local IT industry in the markets where it has a presence. He said that Microsoft and Satyam would capitalize on their global alliance, and are committed to contributing to Malaysia’s transformation from a net importer of software to a net exporter.

Minister of Energy, Multimedia and Communication, Datuk Amar Leo Moggie, witnessed the signing ceremony between both parties.

At the BSE today at 3.46 pm, shares of the Indian IT major Satyam Computer Services were trading at Rs 160.25, down Rs 3.75 or 2.29 per cent, from its previous close of Rs 164.
