London: Silicon Hive, a licensor of application processors, has announced that Samsung Electronics has licensed its HiveGo VSS3000 video processor. The HiveGo VSS3000 provides 1080-line progressive scan high definition performance and decodes digital video up to 1920x1080 resolution level at 30 frames per second. It embeds various video decoders, fully in software, for various standard and proprietary video coding formats used in broadcasting, optical disks, and on the internet, reports EE Times. Software-based control of the buffers, caches, and system bus accesses assists in tolerating system bus latencies. These characteristics help the HiveGo VSS3000 integrate into existing system-on-chip (SoC) designs. "We selected the HiveGo VSS3000 product because it offers the unique combination of full programmability, high processing throughput required for Full High Definition video signal processing, and completeness as a sub-system that can be easily integrated in SoC designs. We look forward to further use Silicon Hive's parallel processing technology in upcoming electronics products," said K.W. Chun, Vice President of Digital Media and Communication Business at Samsung.
