SUVs Beat Small Cars: Top Choice of Indians

Its sales rate has increased by 32 percent last year and has also created the demand for much higher  both India-made and imported models.  SUVs are nearly thrice expensive than an entry-level car.

An analysis of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) states that Indian car buyers are making a decision of choosing a premium car and buying an SUV.

Though there were high interest rates and hike in petrol prices, the demand for expensive cars was not devalued. Sedans which has a market share of 19 percent saw a demand rise of 15 percent in 2011. This demand was powered by the premium models like the Hyundai Verna, V W Vento and Chevrolet Cruze.
